Calling All Minnesota Air National Guard Members

In 1921, the 109th Observation Squadron became the first federally recognized National Guard flying squadron.  The visionary leaders behind this historic feat paved the way for Minnesotans to continue making history while serving our state and nation.

The Minnesota Air Guard Museum and Historical Foundation invites allformer MNANG members from all units to the Twin Cities on July 15th and 16th to commemorate and celebrate 90 years of service.

This very special milestone is a call to re-connect and remember the extraordinary impact of the Minnesota Air National Guard.  Activities throughout the weekend will make this an event to remember for veterans, families and the public at large.

A detailed schedule of events and information about hotel options, room rates and more will be sent to everyone in the Reunion Register.  Please register now at http://www.mnangmuseum.org/reunion.html or call 612.713.2523.

Make the experience even better by joining the Reunion Team. Volunteers are needed for a variety of roles, including reunion hosts for each unit. Please check the volunteer box when you register, and you’ll receive a menu of volunteer opportunities.

All who answered the call to serve deserve our thanks.  Please answer this call to celebrate!

The History Centre is saddened to learn of the passing of Donald W. Nyrop.  Mr. Nyrop passed away on November 16, 2010 at the age of 98.  As the long-time chairman and CEO of Northwest Airlines, Mr. Nyrop led Northwest to financial success that it had never seen before and sustained for his 24 years at the helm.  We will post more information as it becomes available.

Congratulations NWA/Delta pilot Marc Ye!

The Minnesota Historical Society sponsored a film competition called "The 1968 Project" which featured independent films reflecting on the events of the year 1968. NWA/Delta pilot Mark Ye entered a film called "Jumbo, the Disappearance of an American Icon," which covered the impact of the Boeing
B-747 on commercial aviation.

We're happy to learn that Marc's film won the Revelation Award! You may view the film at the following link:
