NARMA Visits the Centre

On March 8th some 35 members of NARMA, Northwest’s retired managers group, dropped by the museum following their regular monthly lunch meeting. This was the first visit for several of the retirees. We were pleased that a number of them volunteered to help out at future functions, etc.
We are always on the lookout for more help. Anyone wishing to become part of our growing number of volunteers, please give us a call.

Glen Dobberpuhl, Ella Strand, Roger Johnson, Darlene Lemke, Joanne Blizek, and Bob Schon at the NARMA gathering.

Historical Notes

Did you know that Japan Air Lines, on January 1, 1950, chartered a Northwest Airlines DC-4 for its first post World War II inaugural flight?

Ceremonial in nature, it followed a serpentine three-hour course over Greater Tokyo, to Osaka and then “home” to Tokyo’s Handeda Field. Enroute, it scattered thousands of leaflets proudly announcing in Japanese script “Happy New Year from the new Japan Air Lines. The plane’s 32 seats were filled with Japan Air Lines officials and other VIPs. The crew consisted of Captain John Denman, First Officer Vint Hanson, Purser Bob Chernich and Stewardess Coral Yahr.
