Avenson: “I couldn’t agree more. It’s wonderful to recall those old days. They were wonderful, wonderful years.”

Examination of several major books on the Korean War reveal not one mention of the saga of UN-99. Nor, did a thorough computer search. Just as the Korean War is called the ‘Forgotten War’, UN-99’s role in it is apparently forgotten, too. -- By all but a few.
A Word About Our History
The above story about UN-99 is indicative of many and varied operations and occurrences that are not of general knowledge. The founders of the History Centre believe such activities were very instrumental in the evolvement of the great airline that exists today. They also truly believe that these things must be saved for the enlightenment of the general public as well as of those to come
We are vaguely aware of many and are sure there are many others of which we have no knowledge whatsoever. We hope to hear more about and receive photos and other archival material from anyone who may have information regarding the unusual operations such as;
- Cal-Tex charters that were predecessors to the scheduled Orient operations.
- Setting up the Northern Region and its communications.
- Ferrying of C-46 aircraft from Florida to India in 1943
- How were two DC-3’s moved to the Orient
- Hauling pigs and other livestock across the Pacific
- Ferrying and transfer of fighter aircraft across the Bering Sea to Russia
- Bomber modification at Vandalia, Ohio
- Startup and general information about the predecessor airlines, such as Wisconsin Central, Southwest, Zimmerly, Bonanza, Southern, etc.
